How to redeem a PlayStation Plus code
PS5, PS4, browser or phone: four doors to the same "Redeem code" screen, and one region rule.
Quick answer
On PS5, open the PlayStation Store, select the "…" menu next to the cart → Redeem Code, and enter the 12-character code. In a browser, sign in at store.playstation.com, click your avatar → Redeem Codes. The code must match the country of your PlayStation Network account.

Open the PlayStation Store
Make sure the profile that should get the membership is the one signed in.

Find Redeem Code
Select the "…" icon next to the cart at the top of the Store → Redeem Code. (Also in Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Redeem Codes.)

Enter the 12 characters
Type the code from your email and confirm. The membership time is added to the account straight away.

Open PlayStation Store, scroll the left-hand menu to Redeem Codes, enter the code and select Continue.

Sign in at store.playstation.com, click your avatar at the top right → Redeem Codes, then enter the code.

Open the PlayStation Store tab, tap the menu → Redeem code, and enter it. Whichever door you use, the result is the same account.
Region decides everything
PlayStation codes are issued for one country: a US code works only on a PlayStation Network account registered in the United States. The account country is fixed when the account is created and cannot be changed, so check it (Settings → Users and Accounts → Account) before you buy.

If the code is refused
Region error
The code and your PSN account belong to different countries. It can only be redeemed on an account from the code's country.
Child account
Family members under the age limit may need the family manager to approve spending or to redeem the code on their behalf.

The code adds its time to your membership. If you are on a higher tier, Sony applies it according to your current plan — your Subscriptions page shows the new end date.
Does redeeming turn on auto-renew?
A code itself does not charge you. If a payment method is saved, check Settings → Users and Accounts → Account → Payment and Subscriptions → Subscriptions and switch auto-renew off if you prefer.
Can I redeem a PlayStation code on the PS App?
