How to redeem a Google Play gift card
One menu on Android, one web page everywhere else — and a country rule Google applies strictly.
Quick answer
On Android, open the Play Store, tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Redeem code, enter the code and tap Redeem. On an iPhone or a computer, go to play.google.com/redeem in a browser. The card must match the country of your Google Play account.

Open the Play Store
Make sure the Google account shown at the top right is the one that should receive the balance — switch accounts there if needed.

Go to Redeem code
Tap your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Redeem code (sometimes "Redeem gift code").

Enter the code
Type or paste the code from your email. Spaces and dashes do not matter; the letters and digits do.

Confirm
Tap Redeem. The amount is added to your Google Play balance and is used automatically on your next purchase.
Redeem on an iPhone or a computer
The Play Store does not exist on iOS, so the web page is the way in.

Open play.google.com/redeem
Use any browser and sign in with the Google account that should receive the balance.

Enter the code and redeem
Paste the code, select Redeem, and confirm. The balance appears on every Android device signed in to that account.
The country rule
A Google Play card only works on an account whose Google Play country matches the card. Google lets you change that country about once a year, and balance from the old country cannot be used in the new one. Check the country (Play Store → profile → Settings → General → Account and device preferences) before you buy.

Apps, games, in-app purchases, books, movies and subscriptions billed through Google Play. It cannot pay for hardware from the Google Store.
Can I redeem a Google Play card on an iPhone?
Not in an app — use play.google.com/redeem in Safari or another browser. The balance is then usable on Android devices signed in to that Google account.
Can I send my balance to someone else?
No. Once redeemed, the balance is tied to that Google account. To gift Play credit, send an unredeemed code instead.
